01 · About VOTC

The company & the independence

What does VOTC (Value Online Technology Company) do?

VOTC is an independent wind and solar measurement company. We deliver wind resource assessment, met mast design and deployment, ground-based LiDAR and SoDAR remote sensing, power performance testing, performance optimisation, weather monitoring systems, and drone LiDAR topographic survey. Founded in 2016 with offices in Pune and Delhi, we have run 200+ measurement campaigns across 16 countries.

Where is VOTC based, and where do you work?

Our offices are in Pune and Delhi, India, and we measure wind and solar resources worldwide — campaigns delivered across 16 countries to one measurement standard.

Why does independent wind measurement matter?

As an independent third party we hold no position in the project outcome, so OEMs, owners, lenders and independent engineers all work from the same bankable VOTC dataset. That independence is what makes the wind data defensible in technical due diligence.

02 · Wind resource & met masts

Measuring the wind at a site

What is wind resource assessment (WRA)?

Wind resource assessment measures the wind at a site — speed, direction, shear, veer and turbulence intensity at multiple heights — to estimate long-term energy yield (P50/P90) for a wind farm, following IEC 61400 measurement practice.

What is a meteorological (met) mast?

A met mast is a guyed lattice tower carrying calibrated anemometers, wind vanes, temperature, humidity and pressure sensors. VOTC designs, fabricates, instruments, raises and maintains guyed lattice met masts up to 170 m under one accountable scope, engineered to DIN 3060 in SS316.

Are your sensors MEASNET / NABL calibrated?

Yes. Every sensor carries MEASNET and NABL·ILAC-traceable calibration certificates on file, so the measurement stands up to a lender’s or OEM’s technical review.

03 · LiDAR & remote sensing

Profiling the wind without a tall mast

What is ground-based LiDAR / SoDAR wind measurement?

Ground-based LiDAR and SoDAR are remote-sensing wind profilers, such as the WindCube, that measure wind speed and direction across the full rotor plane without a tall mast. They are used for wind resource assessment and for power performance testing.

LiDAR or a met mast — which do I need?

It depends on the terrain complexity, the IEC site classification, the measurement heights required and the budget. Often the strongest campaign combines a met mast with ground-based or nacelle LiDAR for rotor-equivalent coverage.

04 · Power performance & optimisation

The power curve, measured and recovered

What is power performance testing?

Power performance testing measures a turbine’s actual power curve against its warranted performance to IEC 61400‑12‑1, using a met mast or nacelle / ground-based LiDAR. The result is a measured power curve and annual energy production the OEM, owner and lender can all trust.

What changed between IEC 61400‑12‑1 Edition 1 and Edition 2?

Edition 1 used hub-height wind speed only. Edition 2 introduces the rotor-equivalent wind speed from measurements at three or more heights across the rotor, accounting for wind shear, veer and turbulence intensity for a more representative power curve.

What is performance optimisation and underperformance diagnosis?

When a turbine underperforms, we diagnose the cause — static yaw misalignment, power-curve shortfall, or sensor drift — using nacelle LiDAR and data analysis, then verify the recovered energy yield by re-measurement.

05 · Weather & solar monitoring

The permanent environmental record

What are weather monitoring systems?

Permanent automatic weather stations for solar, hybrid and grid sites. They record global and plane-of-array irradiance (GHI/POA) with Class A pyranometers, plus temperature, wind, humidity and rain, quality-controlled to IEC 61724‑1 and delivered as a hosted, continuous record.

Do you monitor solar resource as well as wind?

Yes. Our weather monitoring covers the solar resource and the meteorology behind PV performance-ratio, soiling and availability reporting, alongside wind and grid quantities.

06 · Drone LiDAR survey

Centimetre-class terrain intelligence

What is a drone LiDAR topographic survey?

A drone-borne LiDAR survey captures a centimetre-class point cloud and processes it to a bare-earth digital terrain model (DTM). It drives turbine and access-road design, earthwork cut-and-fill volumes before they are priced, and construction verification — delivered as DTM, DSM, contours and point clouds in CAD and GIS formats.

Why LiDAR instead of photogrammetry for terrain?

LiDAR pulses reach through vegetation to the bare earth engineers actually design on, while photogrammetry stops at the top of the canopy. That is why LiDAR gives a defensible terrain model under scrub and trees.

07 · Data, standards & delivery

Bankable data, in your format

What standards do you measure to?

The IEC 61400 series including IEC 61400‑12‑1 for power performance, IEC 61724‑1 for solar monitoring, and MEASNET practice — with NABL·ILAC-traceable sensor calibrations throughout.

Is the data bankable for lenders and OEMs?

Yes. Every campaign carries an auditable records trail, held-back ground-control checks and quality-controlled data, built for the technical due diligence that lenders and OEMs run.

What deliverables do I get, and in what formats?

Raw and cleaned data, signed reports, and open formats — CAD (DWG), GIS (GeoTIFF, SHP), CSV and API — in your project’s coordinate system, so your analysts and engineers work in the tools they already use.

How do I get a quote or start a campaign?

Tell us where the site is, the project stage and the decision the data must support. We come back with a measurement scope, a programme and a price. Call +91 96503 07888 or email info@votc.in.

Where is the site — and what must the data prove?
